Can Patrick Dorgu play for Manchester United against Leicester City?
Patrick Dorgu could make his Manchester United debut in the FA Cup against Leicester City on Friday.
The 20-year-old completed his move from Lecce to United on Sunday, signing a contract until the summer of 2030 with the option of an additional year. United have paid £25million for the Denmark international with a potential further £4m in add-ons.
Injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have meant United have been unable to call upon the services of a natural left-back for much of the season. Dorgu will provide competition for Shaw, who returned to full training last week, with Malacia potentially set to leave the club on transfer deadline day.
Dorgu was not signed in time to make his debut against Crystal Palace on Sunday but he was unveiled at Old Trafford ahead of the game and could make his first appearance for the club against Leicester in the FA Cup on Friday.
Upon confirmation of his arrival from Lecce, Dorgu said: “I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a Manchester United player; this is a very special day for my whole family.
“I cannot wait to work with Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the future of the club is incredibly exciting. There is a clear plan set out for my development, and I feel that Manchester United is the perfect place to fulfil my potential and complete my huge ambitions.”
United will be hoping to take a step closer towards defending their FA Cup crown on Friday with a place in the fifth round up for grabs.
