Buchan Curling Club celebrate first Coronation League title win in 54 years

Buchan Curling Club are celebrating after winning the Coronation League for the first time in 54 years.

The club last lifted the silverware in 1970 and there is now a new generation of players who have tasted success in the competition, with the class of 2024 getting their hands on the trophy last week.

This season’s team consisted of Andrew Williamson (skip), Kyle Baptie, Alan Williamson and Stewart Addison, with guest appearances from Gordon McGregor and Jack Brown.

Operating out of Curl Edinburgh in Murrayfield, the competition was set up following the Queen’s coronation in 1953.

It involves some of the oldest curling clubs in the area, such as Currie and Balerno, Dalkeith, Duddingston, East Linton, Mid Calder, Oxenfoord and Penicuik.
