Bruno Fernandes sends message to ex-Man United teammate Martin Dubravka after Cristiano Ronaldo clash

Bruno Fernandes says it was "good to see" former Manchester United teammate Martin Dubravka after the pair faced off on international duty earlier this week.

Fernandes netted the winning goal on Friday evening as Portugal beat Slovakia 1-0 in Bratislava, slaloming through opposition defenders before arrowing an effort past Dubravka. His strike continued a perfect qualification campaign for Roberto Martinez's side who now have 15 points from five matches.

Dubravka had a night to forget after he was accidentally kicked in the head by another former Reds teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo. The 38-year-old was stretching for a loose ball and saw his boot catch the goalkeeper across the face - he was booked for his troubles.

Dubravka enjoyed reuniting with old teammates and posted two pictures on his Instagram alongside Fernandes and Ronaldo. He wrote: "Nice to see a good old friends".

Fernandes undoubtedly enjoyed the better night of the two but took the time to respond, sharing the post on his Instagram alongside the message: "Always good to see you mate".

Portugal and Slovakia remain in the top two places in Group J at the halfway point, with the latter on 10 points from their opening five matches. Dubravka's side are level on points with Luxembourg, however, with goal difference separating them.

Portugal face Luxembourg on Monday evening, while Slovakia host Liechtenstein.

Dubravka's spell at United was a short one, with the goalkeeper spending half a season on loan with the Reds. He arrived from Newcastle United at the start of September but made just two appearances - both in the Carabao Cup - before returning to St James' Park.
