Woman transforms rundown house bought for £68,000 into black Instagrammable haven

Some properties have instant kerb appeal, whether that's for their beautiful front gardens, stand-out size or unique design. One way that's certain to command attention from passers-by is by transforming the exterior of your home to something that's unlike any other house on the street.

One home that instantly catches your eye, both in person and on Instagram, is Jade Doutch's trendy black-cladded home, which has undergone an extensive glow-up both inside and out since she bought it in its 'rundown' state for £68,000 around 20 years ago.

The mum-of-one from North Wales spoke to the Manchester Evening News as part of our Where I Live series, where each week we chat to a different homeowner about their buying and renovation journey; whilst looking at how they've made their home their own.

Jade, who lives in Anglesey, bought her 1920s three-bed semi-detached house aged 22 on a whim, after she was initially looking to buy the house next door.

"I was looking for a house that needed a little bit of work. I viewed quite a few houses at the time, but this one was just a bargain really," Jade, 43, told the Manchester Evening News.

"Funnily enough, I went to view the house next door but I didn’t like it. Then my friend who lived opposite at the time was like 'what about the one next to it'. It had been on the market for over a year and no one was interested in, but it came with a plot of land which had planning permission on it which I didn't realise
