Bruno Fernandes sends message to Alejandro Garnacho after Manchester United goal vs Wolves

Bruno Fernandes has admitted Manchester United's dressing room are 'really happy' for Alejandro Garnacho after he scored against Wolves.

The pressure increased on United after suffering back-to-back defeats last week and this weekend's match against Wolves was considered a must-win, so Erik ten Hag was pleased to welcome Raphael Varane back into the side from injury.

Ten Hag said Varane 'knows how to win' ahead of kick-off and the Frenchman was able to enjoy a winning return to action. United were never threatened by Wolves throughout the game and an important three points were secured.

Anthony Martial gave United the lead in the 32nd minute with a simple finish and following a mostly uneventful second half, substitute Garnacho made it 2-0 deep in injury time to make sure of a crucial victory.

A delighted Fernandes spoke after the final whistle and he lavished the praise on Garnacho, hinting that he's a perfect match for the club.

"The spirit was there, a really professional performance," Fernandes told BBC Sport. "We knew how important it was to get the three points and we know we need to finalise the position in the top four.

"Their goalkeeper [Bentley] did a great game, his first game in the Premier League, he was amazing. Great saves and we have to give him a compliment.

"To play for Manchester United you have to be special. This club is massive and we know the past. He [Garnacho] is another one coming through. We are really happy for him.

"We need six points to secure our place [top four]. If we win our games we will be in the Champions League. We don’t need to focus on anyone else, it is in our hands."
