Bruno Fernandes sends Goncalo Ramos transfer message to Manchester United

Bruno Fernandes is confident that Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos has the necessary qualities to adapt to life in the Premier League and play for Manchester United.

Ramos burst onto the scene in extraordinary fashion at last year's World Cup in Qatar, scoring a hat-trick in Portugal's 6-1 round-of-16 win over Switzerland. He was a surprise inclusion in the starting line-up that evening, replacing former United striker Cristiano Ronaldo to lead the attack.

His heroics against the Swiss immediately alerted an array of big-name clubs to his qualities and his potential, including United. As reported by the Manchester Evening News back in December, boss Erik ten Hag is a fan of Ramos and believes he has all of the necessary ingredients to make a name for himself in England.

And that is a viewpoint shared by Fernandes, who, of course, knows Ramos well from the time they have spent together on international duty.

"The best always come in handy, be it Goncalo or another player," Fernandes told Sport TV, as cited by A Bola. "I think he has all the qualities to play in the Premier League, and when I say Premier League I also mean Manchester United.

"I think he could become a great reference in the coming years, but it's still not in my hands to be sports director."

Ramos, despite making a name for himself as a result of his hat-trick in Qatar on the world stage, has been banging the goals in for Benfica this season, netting 19 in the league alone. He also played a key role in the Portuguese side's run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
