'Brilliant again' - Bruno Fernandes sends message to Manchester United teammate after Fulham win

Bruno Fernandes has hailed Jadon Sancho for his performance in Sunday’s 2-1 final-day win over Fulham.

Sancho jabbed home his side’s equaliser on 39 minutes to mark his fourth strike at Old Trafford this season. Fernandes struck home the winner 10 minutes after half-time to notch his 13th for the campaign.

After a strong start to the season following a promising summer, Sancho spent the festive period away from the squad to rebuild his fitness. Four of his seven goals this season have come since his return in February.

Erik ten Hag has shown his faith in the England star by selecting him to start 11 of the last 15 Premier League games amid injuries to Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford.

On Sunday, he was fielded on the right wing for the first time since the 2-0 away win over Leeds on February 12. The attacker grabbed his first goal in a month, after setting up Anthony Martial’s goal against Chelsea on Thursday.

Taking to Instagram after the Fulham game, Sancho summed up his feelings after a trying season. He wrote: “Ending our last game at Old Trafford with a win!

“Thank you guys for your continuous support not only to me personally but to everyone in the club. One more big game ahead!”

Fernandes - who played all bar one of United’s 38 Premier League games - sent Sancho a message of encouragement ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City.

He said: “Brilliant you again,” with a clapping hands emoji. Garnacho also commented with a heart emoji, as did Roma attacker and fellow England international Tammy Abraham.

History will be made on June 3 as, for the first time, Manchester City and Manchester United meet in the FA Cup final.
