Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes sends warning to Man City over their treble hopes

Bruno Fernandes has warned Manchester United will be ready to end Manchester City's hopes of winning the treble this weekend.

The Manchester derby will be played in the FA Cup final for the first time in history on Saturday and whilst Erik ten Hag's priority is securing his second trophy at the club, victory would also mean putting an end to City's ambitions of a treble.

Pep Guardiola's side have reached the Champions League final and have won the Premier League this season, meaning they are just two games away from matching the historic treble won by Sir Alex Ferguson for United in 1998/99.

Fernandes, who has captained his team for the majority of the campaign, is expected to start at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

He's spoken in the FA Cup final programme ahead of the derby match and he said it 'would mean a lot' to lift the trophy.

"We’re all looking forward to it," Fernandes said. "Any opportunity to play in a final for Manchester United is special, so we have to be ready. We know that the fans will be there supporting us and we want to do everything we can to make them happy.

"It would mean a lot [to win] of course. At this club we always have to be reaching finals and trying to win trophies. We know that is the minimum at a club like this and for us as players. Everyone knows the FA Cup, how important it is in this country and in football.

"It will be a special day and playing against Manchester City is always a big game. We all know the rivalry, we know what it means to us and what it means to our fans. We want to win every game that we play for this club because that is what it deserves.
