Brendan Rodgers makes honest admission after Leicester City drop points at Everton

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted it will be too difficult for his side to qualify for Europe via the Premier League after his side's 1-1 draw with Everton.

City conceded a 92nd-minute equaliser from Richarlison after dominating much of the game at Goodison Park. The game to seventh-placed West Ham sits at 11 points, with City having just seven games left of their season.

While the Europa Conference League is ultimately the most important goal for Leicester this term, Rodgers is under no illusions that the Premier League is still important and must be taken seriously.

"It probably will be," Rodgers said when asked if it is now too difficult to qualify for Europe through the league.

"But if we can finish in the top half of the table and get to the final of the (European) competition we're in, that'll be a really good season for us, in terms of the position we've been in with injuries. We look to the next game and we'll see where we finish."

When asked if Europe is now the sole focus for the rest of the season, Rodgers replied: "No, no. We've got a game at the weekend. We have to respect the supporters travelling all over the country so every game we play, we'll give everything until the last game of the season."
