BREAKING: Main road closed after serious crash near park with accident investigation ongoing - latest updates

A main road in Disley is closed off this morning after a serious crash in the early hours.

The A6 is currently shut from Light Alders Lane to Carr Brow, High Lane. The closure is blocking the main entrance to Lyme Park.

Eyewitnesses have reported seeing a huge emergency services presence on the scene at around 3am. Police said the closure will be in place for 'several hours'.

Disley Police said in a statement this morning: "ROAD CLOSED. The A6 in Disley is CLOSED due to a serious RTC. The road closure is from the centre of Disley to Carr Brow, High Lane. There is NO THROUGH ROUTE.

"There is NO ACCESS to the main entrance to Lyme Park from either side of the road closure. Please be patient and plan an alternative route if heading that way. This closure is expected to last several hours.

"We will update you when the road has reopened."

MancTraffic said in a tweet: "A6 Buxton Rd, High Lane CLOSED from Carr Brow to Light Alders Lane after a serious crash earlier this morning. Traffic using Jackson's Edge Lane."

Police have been contacted for further information on the crash.
