Brave Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden supported as details 'life-threatening' setback in cancer battle

Amy Dowden has bravely shared how she recently suffered a 'life-threatening' setback in her fight against cancer. The Strictly Come Dancing star is currently undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.

The 33-year-old announced in June that she had undergone a mastectomy after revealing she had been diagnosed with cancer after finding a lump in her right breast. She then later discovered that doctors had found another type of cancer and has since been documenting her treatment journey,

And she recently delighted her fans as weeks on from her August 10 birthday, Amy was ready to celebrate. Taking to Instagram on Sunday (August 27), the Welsh star could be seen beaming for the camera as she gave a thumbs-up after being presented with a large birthday cake covered in pink decorations and candles.

"When you have the best friends and have a late birthday celebration," she captioned the post before her fans rushed to respond to share how they were 'so glad' she was able to mark the occasion.

But Amy has now shared how the celebration comes after she contracted sepsis shortly after her first round of chemotherapy earlier this month. Speaking in a new interview, the dancer explained how after the treatment, she was feeling a bit sick and her temperature rose to 37.5 degrees Celsius, which she didn’t realise could be ‘fatal’ to a chemotherapy patient.
