Boss makes Barcelona comment about 'unbelievable' Leicester City star

Luton Town manager Nathan Jones says he "always knew" James Justin would establish himself as a Premier League star and receive an England call-up.

Justin has been handed a maiden call-up to the England squad ahead of Nations League fixture in June. The 24-year-old signed for the Foxes in June 2019 on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee. Since signing for Brendan Rodgers' side, he has made 68 appearances, contributing four goals and four assists.

The talented full-back has spent a large chunk of this season in the treatment room at the King Power Stadium due to a cruciate ligament rupture picked up against Brighton in the FA Cup back in February 2021. Justin returned to the Foxes' Premier League squad in January 2022 as a substitute in the 3-2 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. Since a 2-1 win over Brentford in March, Justin has completed 90 minutes in all eight league fixtures he has been involved in.

His impressive performances since his injury comeback has resulted in England boss Gareth Southgate calling him up to the Three Lions senior squad.

Reflecting on James' call-up, former boss Jones told Sky Sports: "At the time you are looking at Barcelona playing Jordi Alba and players like that. He has those capabilities. He is sharp, has a low centre of gravity and a really technical defender. He is really athletic and he is the type and mould of a Premier League player.

"We always knew he had that potential in terms of what he can do and he is just fulfilling that now. He is an unbelievable professional and an unbelievable human being. I'm so delighted to him, when it happens to a good one everyone is happy."
