Bolton Wanderers star ranked above Wigan Athletic duo & Sheffield Wednesday maestro in Top 50 list

Bolton Wanderers star Dapo Afolayan is the club's only representative in an annual Top 50 list of EFL players.

Afolayan is Wanderers' top scorer with 13 goals in all competitions and has been arguably the star of the season for Ian Evatt's side.

Wanderers sit 11th in the League One table as things stand with seven games left of their season and sit 11 points from the top six.

They have not been in action over the international break and will next play this Saturday when they travel to the DW Stadium to take on rivals Wigan Athletic, who themselves are seeking automatic promotion to the Championship.

Afolayan is likely to play on Saturday against the Latics, and will do so having been named in a well recognised annual list.

World famous monthly football magazine FourFourTwo publishes a list each year of the 50 best players in the Championship, League One and League Two.

And Afolayan has placed 35th on the list and is one of the top rated League One players named.

Only Morecambe's Cole Stockton, Sunderland's Ross Stewart, Rotherham United's Michael Smith, and MK Dons' Scott Twine sti above Afolayan in the list.

And the Wanderers star is above two players who he will likely come up against this weekend.

Latics winger James McClean and striker Will Keane sit 45th and 40th on the list respectively.

Other League One representatives on the list includes Sheffield Wednesday's former Bolton midfielder Barry Bannan at 41 and Oxford United's Cameron Brannagan, who sits 47th, Rotherham's Dan Barlaser who was ranked 36th and Joe Jacobson of Wycombe Wanderers who sits 39th.
