Bolton Wanderers man makes transfer admission

The midfielder finally completed his long awaited move from Gillingham to the Trotters on deadline day and will now be looking to make a lasting impact for Ian Evatt’s side moving further forwards into 2022.

Dempsey was a captain and all round influential figure for the Gills and it is for that reason that their loss will certainly be Bolton’s gain as they look to climb the table.

Now the former Fleetwood Town man has had his say on the move, as he provided his thoughts not long after signing on the dotted line at the University of Bolton Stadium:

“I think now the squad’s at a real good base and I think it’s about finishing the season strong and seeing where it can take us and I’m certainly going to try and do that and climb up that table as much as we can in these next coming games.

‘“It’s been one of those (moves) that’s been there for a couple of weeks and I’m just glad to finally get it over the line.”

In the end Dempsey made a total of 66 appearances for Gillingham as he scored nine goals before leaving prior to his contract being due to be up with the Kent side next summer.

He has since signed a two year deal with the Trotters.

The Verdict

This is a great move for Dempsey and it allows him to move away from a club in Gillingham that is quite frankly in a state of disarray.

It is a move that suited all parties and he will now be looking to kick on with his new side that pulled out all of the stops to bring him in.

He certainly won’t have come cheap but at the same time he is an individual that can take a game by the scruff of the neck, so for that reason he is whats needed.

It will be intriguing to see how he gets on with Bolton moving forwards.
