Declan Rice's desire to win trophies will eventually see the West Ham star move according to former Premier League striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Rice's future has long been speculated over with Chelsea and both Manchester clubs understood to be keen on signing the England international this summer despite West Ham's stance that their star man is not for sale.

understands that West Ham have never received a bid for the on-field captain and would not welcome one with the Hammers adamant the 23-year-old is part of their long term plans.

However, Berbatov believes Rice could be on his way out of the London Stadium with Liverpool and Manchester City the likely destination according to the Bulgarian.

"Players want to win trophies, and with Declan Rice you can see his ambitions are big," Berbatov told Betfair.

"Although West Ham are a big club, are they capable of fulfilling his dreams? He's been there for five years and when you know you're a good enough player and teams come after you, at one point you have to make a big decision. Unless West Ham are challenging for the Premier League title I can't see him staying.
