Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg responds to Manchester United transfer 'interest' and scouting rumours

Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg has addressed rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United, and is seemingly open to a possible move to Old Trafford.

The Sweden international is reportedly eyeing up a summer exit, with a number of clubs said to be interested in acquiring his services. Tottenham have been linked, along with the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan, Roma and Juventus.

United have also been linked in recent days, with midfield being one of the Reds’ priorities for the upcoming transfer window. A huge number of names have been linked to what has been a problem area for United this season.

With Paul Pogba seemingly set to leave for a second time this summer, the Reds will be on the lookout for a new option in the middle of the park, and it has also been suggested Svanberg could offer up competition to Scott McTominay and Fred, who have been the preferred options this season.

Reports in Italy have suggested United have sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old in action this month. When asked by Swedish newspaper Expressen about the rumours though, Svanberg insisted he hadn’t given them much thought.

“That’s not something I think about so much,” Svanberg said. “This has been the case for a large part of my career and this is the case for many other players as well.

“If you play in a provincial club in Italy and do well, there will be bigger clubs on your radar, but that does not mean that they will buy me or try to lure me there.”

The midfielder though only has one year left on his deal at Bologna after this season. With that in mind, he’s seemingly aiming to keep any interest in him alive for the time being.
