Manchester United transfer news LIVE plus Erik ten Hag 'talks' update and Liverpool buildup

Manchester United are set to encounter a quick turnaround before resuming their top-four charge against bitter rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday night (8pm). That impending showdown comes after United got back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon.

Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo settled the scores with a stunning hat-trick to gun down Norwich. Those goals took his tally to the season to 21 in all competitions.

United were missing five players through injury against Norwich - namely Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Fred, Scott McTominay and Edinson Cavani - but will interim manager Ralf Rangnick gain a timely boost on the selection front in time for Anfield?

With one eye on the transfer market, United are also making moves to appoint their next permanent manager as Ajax chief Gerry Hamstra provided an update on coach-elect Erik ten Hag before the Eredivisie outfit were beaten 2-1 by PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Cup final on Sunday afternoon.

Ajax have done 'everything they can' to keep United manager-elect Erik ten Hag and they are prepared for each and every possible scenario. That's the message from Gerry Hamstra, who was recently appointed as technical manager for the Eredivisie giants.

Here is what Hamstra said during an interview with ESPN Netherlands;

Erik can ultimately determine his own future. He is old and wise enough for that. We have two scenarios, we very much hope that he stays and, if he doesn't stay, we have to be ready for the second scenario.
