Blues transfer news: Chelsea are 'No.1 landing spot for Declan Rice after 'head turned'

Chelsea is still the destination of choice for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 23-year-old has reportedly attracted the attention of some of the Premier League’s top clubs and continues to go from strength to strength.

According to The Telegraph, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are all lining up summer moves for Rice as they look to bolster their engine room options.

The report states that the trio are all monitoring the England international’s situation ahead of a possible offer, with West Ham facing a difficult task to keep hold of their prized asset.

It was revealed back in July that Rice has already turned down two contract offers from the Hammers’ hierarchy as he wants to play Champions League football in the near future.

Rice still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current deal, though, and West Ham have the option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

Nevertheless, the defensive-minded dynamo appears to be slowly edging towards the London Stadium exit door, and a return to his boyhood club could be on the cards.

Rice spent eight years in Chelsea’s academy before being released in 2014 as a teenager and has been open in his support for the Blues since.

Although Jones believes deciding whether to leave West Ham or stay put would be a ‘big decision’ for Rice, the journalist claims Stamford Bridge remains his ‘number one landing spot’.
