Birmingham City man opens up on Rangers exit as Nottingham Forest deal sealed

Welcome to BirminghamLive's coverage of all things Birmingham City, on

Birmingham City have confirmed the signing of striker Lyle Taylor who joins on loan from Nottingham Forest.

The 31-year-old arrived until the end of the season and is reunited with Lee Bowyer, the manager with whom, in 2019, he helped Charlton Athletic to promotion from League One.

Taylor comes in to replace Chuks Aneke, who returned to The Valley after just seven months at Blues.

He does so after a couple of stop start seasons at the City Ground where he has scored eight goals in 61 appearances, most of them off the bench.

Taylor joins Lukas Jutkiewicz, Scott Hogan and the injured Troy Deeney as options up front for Bowyer.

The pair had considerable success together with The Addicks, with Taylor scoring 35 times with a ratio better than a goal every two games.

Blues’ fans on social media have predicted that the Forest man will get one over on his former rivals, under the stewardship of Bower.

Here’s what just some had to say…

: Rate this signing, last time he played under Bowyer he scored for fun. Same again please, Lyle. #bcfc

: If Bowyer can get the best out of him once again it's a great addition! #bcfc

: For some reason I think taylor is going to be really good for us. Not my first choice but come round to the idea gotta give him chances tho. #bcfc
