Birmingham City boss Lee Bowyer voices 'slide down' fear as managing director ends stadium rumour

Lee Bowyer says Birmingham City's owners have not responded to his request to discuss plans for next season. The head coach was speaking as Blues go into this weekend's game with Millwall after a 6-1 mauling at Blackpool.

Following the defeat at Bloomfield Road Bowyer admitted his position could be under threat having conceded ten goals in the last two games. Asked on Thursday if he had heard from the owners he said he hadn't.

Indeed the 45-year-old said he wished he had been able to speak with those who run the club. "I asked to have a conversation with them," Bowyer said. "I am just waiting for a response.

"I just want to know what the plan is going forward. I have another year. I want to know what the plan is in the summer. You guys are all asking me questions about the summer, what the plan is, do you want to be 19th, 20th every year? Of course not.

"So what is the plan? How are we going to change having a fight every last day to try and stay out of relegation? Are we just going to accept that as a football club or are we going to try to do something to make it go forward? These are questions that I want to ask as well.

"I don't want to be in a situation where you're doing some of the crazy things I've had to do all season. I want to be at a club that wants to be successful and wants to do the right thing and move forward. I have a career as well. I didn't come here for my career to go from where it was and just slide down. No way. I'm ambitious and I'm a winner. I don't want to be left in the lurch. Not a chance."
