Billy Gilmour tipped to be next 'massive money' exit from Brighton as Scotland star 'seizes' opportunity

Adam Virgo has tipped Billy Gilmour to conquer Europe and join the conveyor belt of massive-money moves from Brighton.

The former Seagulls defender has seen Gilmour get his club career back on track with several stunning Premiership displays on the south coast. Ex- Celt Virgo predicts the 22-year-old will prove even better on the Euro stage this season for both club and country.

Gilmour has seized his chance since £115 million Moises Caicedo left for Chelsea. And Virgo reckons former Stamford Bridge kid Gilmour’s improvement will only attract elite-level interest in years to come. TNT Sports pundit Virgo said: “Billy got his opportunity at Chelsea and his early performances were really, really good.

“At Norwich, he struggled massively but was still learning the game and then it didn’t start well at Brighton. But we’ve got to remember Billy is only 22. I feel he’s come back in this season with the mentality that Caceido would go and has grasped the opportunity.

“I’d be looking around and thinking: Caceido’s gone for that money, Alexis Mac Allister for £55m and, before them, Marc Cucurella for £60m and Ben White for £50m. Billy has plenty learning space in front of him to become a better player and be sold on for a big profit when he’s 25 or 26.

“He’s seen players around him of that age increase in value and go on to bigger clubs. There’s not one Brighton player who hasn’t improved under Roberto De Zerbi. That’s a hard thing to do.

“Look at Solly March playing now, Kaoru Mitoma has got better and even Lewis Dunk at his age. In Billy’s case, he’s seized the responsibility and become a much better footballer.”
