Billy Gilmour sees brother earn Brighton trial chance as Harvey looks to follow Premier League path

Brighton have handed Billy Gilmour’s brother the chance to win a deal.

Record Sport understands Harvey Gilmour is currently training with the Seagulls’ development squad. The 17-year-old is a free agent after leaving Kilmarnock at the end of the season. The teenage midfielder is now looking to follow in the footsteps of his older sibling.

Scotland star Gilmour moved to Brighton last summer in a big-money move from Chelsea. He struggled to make his mark but under Roberto De Zerbi he has become more of a central figure for the English Premier League shock troops. They made their first ever European appearance on Thursday night as they kicked off their Europa League group stage campaign against AEK with a 3-2 home defeat. But Di Zerbi's men are going great guns in domestically with Gilmour an integral part of their impressive style, with the Seagulls sitting fifth in the table with four wins out of five.

That has seen him force his way back into Steve Clarke’s national squad. Gilmour junior is just at the start of his professional journey and is looking to take the next step. He came through the Killie Academy and had been within their ranks since he was seven.

Brighton are no stranger to Scottish talent having signed the likes of Marc Leonard and have also been keeping a close eye on Queen’s Park keeper Callan McKenna.
