Ryan Kent 'unhappy' at Fenerbahce as former Rangers star faces exit farce after crisis summit sparks rising tensions
Misfit Ryan Kent is reportedly "unhappy" at Fenerbahce following crunch talks with boss Ismail Kartal sparked by the former Rangers winger being dropped from the Turkish giants’ squad.
Kent had made an early impression in Istanbul after leaving the Scottish Premiership at the end of his Ibrox contract during appearances in the Super Lig and Europa Conference League. But he was then left out of the squad entirely before the international break in the 1-0 win over Ankaragucu. It was a second blow for the Englishman who failed to make an appearance off the bench in the midweek Euro clash with FC Twente the Thursday – and Kartal openly admitted he had told the forward to raise his levels in training to earn a spot in the squad.
FotoMac report that following the crisis talks the 26-year-old will not be included in the side that takes on Antalyaspor this Sunday. The former Rangers star has is said to be "unhappy" with how the meeting went and voiced his "frustration" at his situation at the club.
The report notes there remains potential that a loan move away from the club could be on the cards with the Turkish training window remaining open until September 15. But speaking ahead of the clash on Sunday, Kartal moved to reassure Kent when asked about the behind the scenes discussion - stating his time will come.
He said: “With the heavy match traffic, injuries, illnesses and fatigue will occur. We will need every football player in this long race."
Things could go from bad to worse for Kent with reports stating former Celtic star Jota could be set for a loan move to Fenerbahce. Al-Ittihad are keen to offload the winger to meet the Saudi Pro League criteria for the amount of foreign players allowed in each squad.
