Manchester United great Roy Keane slams Jordan Pickford with brutal assessment of Everton star

Roy Keane has slammed Jordan Pickford for his performance against Manchester City.

Manchester United are in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer with uncertainty over David de Gea's position as No.1. The 32-year-old is approaching the final weeks of his contract but is expected to sign a new deal with United on reduced terms.

Although De Gea looks set to stay at United beyond this season, MEN Sport revealed there is growing uncertainty over his No.1 status next term. As a result, other goalkeepers have been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

MEN Sport revealed recently that Anderlecht goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen is on Erik ten Hag's radar, but another player to have been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months is Everton shot-stopper Pickford.

The England international felt the wrath of Keane for his inability to get closer to Ilkay Gundogan's free-kick on Sunday. City won 3-0 at Goodison Park and the ex-United captain wasn't impressed with Pickford's performance.

"Pickford for the goal, my goodness, looks so small in there," Keane told Sky Sports. "There's no spring, he's not anticipating. Micah [Richards] said before the game he's a top goalkeeper - he's not.

"What an outstanding player (Gundogan is). We mentioned Sean Dyche will be disappointed with the defending, but once it goes in there his first touch is brilliant and his second one is even better.

"What a player this guy is, absolutely brilliant. The way he times his runs into the box, what a magnificent finish. Brilliant."
