BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Shirley Ballas supported by co-stars as she shares moment her life 'came crashing down'

Shirley Ballas has been floodedd with support from her co-stars and fans as the Strictly Come Dancing star opened up about the moment her life 'came crashing down'. The BBC One dance competition's judge was sharing a tribute to her late brother on the 20th anniversary of his death.

Shirley has been a public supporter of charities including Campaign Against Living Miserably (Calm) after her brother, David, took his own life. Over the summer, the 62-year-old completed a series of extreme tasks She rode the world’s fastest zipline, wing walked 700ft in the air and jumped 13,000ft from a plane as part of a 'Skyatholon' to raise awareness and funds for the suicide prevention charity.

She said at the time: "I’ve done it for everybody out there who has lost a loved one, or anybody who’s living miserably, and for my brother David and my student that just passed a couple of weeks ago, age 38. I’m glad I went through with it."

In her latest social media post, Shirley paid tribute to David two decades after he died. She posted a picture of them together as well as photos of a tribute featuring David that appeared previously appeared in London on the Southbank.

"20 years ago today my dearest brother David took his own life," Shirley started the caption of her post. "I lost my brother, my protector and my best friend.
