BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Chris McCausland's kind gesture to co-star uncovered as they 'wanted him to win'

Chris McCausland's kindness behind the scenes on Strictly Come Dancing has been uncovered by one of his co-stars who said they 'wanted him to win' from the star.

After 13 weeks of dancing, having never done so before, Chris emerged victorious alongside professional dance partner Dianne Buswell during last Saturday night's (December 14) grand final of the BBC One dance contest.

The comedian, who was Strictly's first-ever blind contestant, and Dianne were paired together for the 20th-anniversary series of the show back in September and were eventually crowned Strictly's latest champions at the end of the 2024 series following the glittering grand final.

They beat fellow finalists Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and partner Vito Coppola, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and dancer Aljaz Skorjanec and JLS singer JB Gill and partner Lauren Oakley to lift the famous Glitterball trophy, which Chris described in the aftermath as "astonishing".

After Tess Daly announced them as this year's winners, Chris cried and hugged his partner Dianne, with them both appearing to be in disbelief, before they were celebrated by their co-stars.

Days on and Wynne Evans, who competed in Strictly this year alongside pro Katya Jones, has now revealed how supportive Chris was of him as he was quizzed on his thoughts at Chris winning the competition this year.

Taking part in an Instagram Q&A, the opera singer was asked: "What do you think of Chris winning?" to which he replied in a video: "I just think it's the best thing ever. I really wanted Chris to win, from the start pretty much. I even said to my own son, 'Are your friends voting?' and he said, 'Yeah... for Chris!'
