BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Amanda Abbington leaves co-star 'obsessed' as she debuts new look weeks after quitting

Amanda Abbington has left her former Strictly Come Dancing co-star 'obsessed' as she debuted a new look. The actress hasn't been seen on the show for weeks after deciding to withdraw from the BBC One dance contest.

Last month (October), Amanda pulled out of one of the live shows due to 'medical reasons'. Before she and her professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice were due to return for last weekend's Halloween special, it was announced Amanda would be leaving the competition due to 'personal reasons'.

The Sherlock star later said: "It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons, I am unable to continue," and while she hasn't elaborated on her reason for leaving the hit competition since, she has still been supporting some of the couples on the show on social media.

Amanda has also been sharing updates into her own life and her latest saw her showing off her new do. The 51-year-old took to Instagram to show her 140,000 followers her brand-new hairstyle after going for the chop. She displayed her edgy new tresses in a selfie as she pulled a face for the picture.

"Finally got a haircut...," she typed in the caption alongside shocked face emojis. Amanda's celebrity pals rushed to comment on the star's new hairstyle, with Strictly star Ellie Leach commenting: "Erm obsessed," with fire emojis. Radio and TV star Michelle Visage said: "Love it," while Strictly pro dancer Karen Hauer wrote: "Love", in the comments underneath.
