Strictly Come Dancing fans have shared why Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola were 'correct winners' and the moment their luck changed during the grand final. The former Coronation Street star and Italian professional dancer lifted the Glitterball trophy on Saturday night (December 16).

The pair, who have been subject to heavy romance rumours during the competition, emerged victorious as the BBC One dance contest came to end in an epic finale which also including their fellow finalists, Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin and Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell.

After three dances each, at the end of the night, the scores given by the judges saw, Layton and Nikita received a total score of 119 points out of a possible 120 while Bobby and Dianne bagged 117 points. Ellie and Vito then placed bottom of the final leaderboard having received a total of 115 points.

However, it was the public vote that ultimately decided who were crowned champions and who was given the winning title this year and despite their lower combined score on the night, that was Ellie and Vito with the news confirmed by hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

Upon being crowned the youngest-ever winner of Strictly, Ellie was clearly stunned as she covered her mouth with her hand while Vito broke into tears as he realised he won the competition with only his second-ever celebrity partner on the show after joining last year.
