BBC Breakfast announce breaking news as man charged with murder of co-star's family

During Tuesday's edition of BBC Breakfast, presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay interrupted the programme to deliver urgent news.

Sally announced to viewers: "A man has been charged with murdering the wife and two daughter's of the BBC racing commentator John Hunt.

"Carol Hunt and her daughters, Hannah and Louise, were killed in their home in Bushey in Hertfordshire in July this year."

Jon then revealed that 26-year-old Kyle Clifford had been charged with their murders.

The attack unfolded on July 9, with Clifford being found injured the next day in a cemetery in Enfield, reports the Express.

In addition to the murder charges, he faces one count of false imprisonment and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

The Daily Mail reports that Clifford is set to make a remote court appearance at Westminster Magistrates' Court at 10am on Tuesday (September 17).

While receiving medical care for his injuries in hospital, where he was also under arrest, police could not conduct an interview.

Lisa Ramsarran, the chief crown prosecutor for CPS Thames and Chiltern, commented: "Our thoughts remain with the Hunt family and all those who have been affected by this tragic incident.

"As criminal proceedings are active, there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online that could prejudice the defendant's right to a fair trial."
