Bayley: New update on former champion’s likely WWE return

A new report has shed some light on Bayley’s return to WWE following her long injury layoff.

SmackDown’s longest reigning Women’s Champion has been off WWE TV following a torn ACL in July 2021. At the time she was embroiled in a feud with Bianca Belair over the blue brand’s title but had to pull out of their scheduled ‘I Quit’ match at Money in the bank.

The injury, which was sustained while performing a chain wrestling drill at the WWE Performance Center, was set to rule Bayley out of action for nine months. A timescale that would in theory see her ready to return to action in April and a possible WrestleMania storyline ahead of the event across the weekend of April 2nd and 3rd.

However, Mike Johnson of PWInsider has now reported that the current plan for Bayley is for her to return to WWE TV following WrestleMania. That doesn’t rule out a possibility that she may be at the event, but does seem to suggest that her return could be saved until the always anticipated Raw after WrestleMania on the Monday night.

In the report, it also claims that Asuka has now been cleared following her arm injury and is just waiting for WWE to find the right story for her. While it also seems WWE may be cooling down Alexa Bliss for WrestleMania season and then continuing her story after the event in Dallas.

Bliss returned to action at Elimination Chamber but hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since. This past week fans took to Twitter to ask the former women’s champion why she wasn’t on the show, which took place in Alexa’s hometown of Columbus, Ohio. To which she replied with the hashtag #WheresAlexa.
