Barry Robson roars Aberdeen WILL turn it around as fans reminded massive Viaplay Cup moment lies in wait

Under-fire Barry Robson says he took the Aberdeen job for the long haul and is in no doubt his squad that will go on and prove their point in the Premiership.

The Dons fan took it in the neck from fellow supporters after Kilmarnock’s last-minute winner in midweek. But Robson said: “I’ve signed a lot of good players and it’s not easy to get a lot right, especially when you have to sign 14 in one window. We won’t be doing that again as a club so it’s a new team and it does take time.

“Of course in football time isn’t always there but I always want to do it the right way. I didn’t want any quick fixes. I came in here because the job was about building for the long term. We want to make sure we build for a strong future not just window to window.”

It has been a rollercoaster season with a Viaplay Cup final to look forward to and a return to group stage European football that has taken its toll domestically. The Dons boss knows the Aberdeen fans are hurting and added: “I’m an Aberdeen boy. I’ve been here and I know how the Aberdeen fans work.

“We are all together at this club from the board all the way down. Everybody here is sticking together and we will stick together.

“The most important thing is I’ve had unbelievable support from the Aberdeen fans. When I’ve met them on the street they’ve been great and the other night they were rightly frustrated. They let us know that as they expect us to be up the league. But I’m sure they’ll come and support us against Hearts. I’ve been here for a lot of years and I know how the fans work but the thing is we are all together at this club.
