Rangers vs Aberdeen descends into chaos as furious Slobodan Rubezic held back amid explosive Viaplay Cup Final brawl

Rangers brought their 12-year wait to lift the League Cup to an end at Hampden - but not before an explosive rammy broke out before the full-time whistle.

The flashpoint came with Barry Robson's Aberdeen chasing a late equaliser at the national stadium - with Ibrox captain netting the crucial goal with just 14 minutes left on the clock. The Dons went on an all-out attack in injury time with Kelle Roos joining the full team in the penalty box as a dangerous free-kick was whipped into the box after Duk was hauled down by Rangers substitute Scott Wright with seconds remaining in the Mount Florida rain.

However, when the ball was whipped into towards the Aberdeen attacker Jack Butland scrambled to collect the ball - which sparked the raging reaction. After referee Don Robertson blew up for a foul, commentator Alan Hutton accused Leon Balogun of 'saying something" to Duk while he was on the floor sparking a heated reaction.

Connor Goldson became involved, before Bojan Miovski shoved Balogun into the empty net. Slobodan Rubezic had to be held back by Kelle Roos as he became involved in the brawl.

A VAR check took place for a potential red card. In the end Miovski, Barisic, Rubezic and Balogun were all given a yellow card.
