'Ban him' - Manchester United fans make Erling Haaland demand after livid referee outburst

There are calls from some Manchester United supporters to 'ban' Manchester City striker Erling Haaland following his X-rated outburst during and after their Premier League showdown with Tottenham.

City were incensed when Simon Hooper - with the score sheet reading 3-3 in added-time - blew up for a free-kick when Jack Grealish had been sent through on goal. Hooper had initially waved play on after Erling Haaland clipped a ball over the top and the livid Norway international could face FA punishment for his reaction.

That end-to-end game finished as a draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Haaland was visibly angered and he bolted straight to the referee to make his feelings known about the decision. He also cut a frustrated figure at full-time and took to social media to further vent his frustrations.

In a short rant uploaded onto renamed platform X (formerly Twitter), the 23-year-old seemingly questioned what had gone on at the end of a pulsating 90 minutes. However, as per FA rules, a financial penalty, if Haaland is found guilty of any charges, would be more likely financial than an on-field suspension.

A huge talking point on social media and beyond, supporters from other clubs are naturally calling to see Haaland banned so they do not have to deal with his sensational goal-getting talents. However, while United followers are genuinely on that page, there are a few who do have sympathy for the City frontman.

They have pointed towards the standard of refereeing as being the primary issue that needs to be sorted out. The matter was also discussed on Sky Sports show Ref Watch.
