Erling Haaland wins Man City Fans' Footballer of the Year 2023 as national vote revealed

Erling Haaland has been crowned as your Manchester City Fans' Footballer of the Year for 2023.

The 23-year-old Norway sensation, who also finished as runner-up for the national-wide accolade, was a landslide winner during the voting process. John Stones, Rodri and Haaland were in all the running for Reach PLC's top prize, which ultimately went to England and Newcastle defender Kieran Trippier.

For the City-only prize, Haaland topped the billing with 547 of the 1,175 votes that came from Manchester Evening News readers. Rodri (364), Bernardo Silva (171) and Jack Grealish (93) followed him.

Haaland, meanwhile, placed second to Trippier nationally with Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka and Liverpool player Mohamed Salah completing the top-five. Despite missing out on club recognition, Stones ended up 11th nationally as Rodri finished seventh behind Women's Super League goalkeeper Mary Earps.

Earps plays her football for neighbours Manchester United and the England team. She helped England Women to the World Cup final in 2023, but the Lionesses suffered a heart-breaking defeat to Spain.

Haaland signed for City from Borussia Dortmund last summer and enjoyed a magical first 12 months at the club. He played a lead role in their historic treble win.

The 29-cap Norway international scored 52 goals in 53 matches for City last season as they not only defended the Premier League title, but won the FA Cup and Champions League, as well. Haaland was the standout player across the top-flight last season and has picked up where he left off since the restart.
