Write a list of the Leicester City players who surpassed, or even matched, their previous heights during this season, and it might not be a particularly long one.

While City had issues as a team – from set-piece defending to difficulties breaking down deep back-lines – there were players who underwhelmed too as City endured a sometimes-difficult season. Almost everyone in the squad had excellent games at points, but few had excellent seasons.

So who were the star men and who were those that disappointed? Here, we rate every single first-team player’s performance across the campaign.

The low tally of clean sheets was not usually his fault, but rather that of the defence in front of him, with Schmeichel solid in his shot-stopping for much of the season. A few of the clean sheets City did keep he worked hard to earn, pulling off several brilliant stops in the home wins over Liverpool and Leeds for example. But beyond that, he was as good as he has always been in his four years as deputy, again winning a penalty shoot-out in the Carabao Cup with a save from 12 yards, while standing firm as he was finally handed his league debut.
