"As far as I understand" - Journalist drops Calvert-Lewin future update at Everton

Everton have not received any bids for Dominic Calvert-Lewin yet, says Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The England striker has been linked to a few Premier League clubs, but Brown is not too sure if any offers will arrive after his difficult 2021/22 campaign.

This could be a big summer for Calvert-Lewin, claims The Athletic. According to them, Newcastle United, plus some other outfits, hold an interest in the £36m-rated 25-year-old.

However, despite the interest he is attracting from other clubs, the same outlet states that there is unlikely to be any sort of auction for him in this transfer window.

Prior, The Telegraph had claimed that Newcastle were quoted a £60m fee when they enquired about signing Calvert-Lewin, but it looks like Everton will struggle to get anywhere near that, which does not come as a surprise.

The England international was unable to show what he is really capable of last season after injury restricted him to making just 15 starts in the Premier League.

Brown has told GIVEMESPORT that Everton are yet to receive any bids for Calvert-Lewin.

Speaking to GMS, the Daily Star journalist said: “Calvert-Lewin’s problem is that the season he’s just had was a bit of a disaster. He didn’t play very much, scored a big goal at the end obviously when he came back, but the teams who are interested in him just haven’t seen very much of Dominic Calvert-Lewin for the last few months.

“So, as far as I understand it, Everton haven’t had any bids for him, and it doesn’t look like any are forthcoming in the near future.”
