"No-brainer" – Journalist drops big claim as Everton line up move for £30m star

Everton trying to sign Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is a “no-brainer” if he’s available for a “bargain price”, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

Frank Lampard made his first summer signing earlier this month when James Tarkowski arrived on a free transfer, but the Toffees boss is now hoping to add Gibbs-White to his squad.

According to The Sun, Crystal Palace, Southampton, and Nottingham Forest are all keen on signing the Wolves ace, who scored 13 goals and laid on 10 assists to help Sheffield United finish in the top six last season.

And Everton are the latest Premier League club to register their interest in the 22-year-old, with The Athletic claiming that Lampard’s side are rivalling newly-promoted Forest for his signature.

The report states that Everton are ‘admirers’ of the England Under-21 ace and would be willing to fund the deal with the £60m they received from Tottenham for Richarlison.

Last month, 90min reported that Steve Cooper’s team were hopeful of completing a £20m club record deal for Gibbs-White, although The Athletic believe that Wolves will demand in the region of £30m for his services.

But while Brown reckons that a cut-price deal would make it a no-brainer, he doesn’t think the Goodison Park outfit’s financial problems will allow them to break the bank for the youngster.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I think if there was some way of doing that for a brilliant bargain price, it will be a no-brainer, because of his age, but if it’s to command a big fee, I don’t think Everton have the money for that when they need to strengthen in other areas more.”
