Arsenal wonderkid Charlie Patino earns song from Blackpool fans 20 minutes into loan move

Charlie Patino received a warm welcome from Blackpool fans as he made his debut for the Championship club on Saturday afternoon.

The Arsenal midfielder, 18, joined Blackpool on a season-long loan deal earlier this month. He is viewed as one of the Gunners' best young players and represents England at Under-19 level. He scored on his senior debut for Arsenal against Sunderland last December.

Patino got his first taste of Championship football on Saturday afternoon when he was brought on in the 70th minute of Blackpool's 2-0 away defeat to Stoke. Despite losing the game, the Tangerines faithful were still in fine voice at the end of the game.

A large group of Blackpool fans were filmed singing Patino's name on the concourse at Stoke. The new chant is inspired by Blackpool's hatred of local rivals Preston and goes to the tune of Michael Jackson's 1995 hit song 'You Are Not Alone'.

It's understandable why Blackpool supporters have warmed to their new midfielder. Speaking after the match, Tangerines manager Michael Appleton praised Patino's performance and claimed he "enjoyed" watching him strut his stuff in the Championship.

"He takes yards off people sometimes with his ability to get away from people," said Appleton. "I thought he was great. I thought he showed a calmness. He showed an old head on very, very young shoulders and I enjoyed watching him. I think the Blackpool fans over the coming season are going to enjoy watching him."
