Arsenal offer for £40m star could 'finally land' at the Emirates
Arsenal could complete a deal to sign Youri Tielemans this week if they launch an offer for the midfielder, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
The Gunners have been chasing the Belgium international throughout the summer window and Jones reckons that Mikel Arteta could finally get his man in the coming days.
Arteta’s side might have made an outstanding start to the new campaign, which has seen them win their opening three matches for the first time since 2004-2005, but the Spaniard is still hoping to add to his five signings before next week’s deadline.
One of those is Tielemans, who’s Arsenal’s top midfield target, although the Gunners are yet to officially launch a bid for the 25-year-old.
However, Tielemans was left out of the Leicester starting XI for their weekend defeat to Southampton after Brendan Rodgers confirmed he wasn’t in the ‘right frame of mind’ to play amid increased speculation surrounding his future.
When asked why he didn’t start, he said: “One, a change in system and two, I mentioned in the week, we’re coming into a Premier League game and maybe we’ve got players who are maybe not quite in the right frame of mind.”
And Jones reckons a deal could move quickly if Arsenal finally make an offer and meet Leicester’s valuation of the player, which has been quoted at £40m earlier in the window.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “Brendan Rodgers knows that Tielemans is still seeking a move to a bigger club, so he was trying to protect his team by leaving him out.
“It didn’t really work out, but I am told he could still leave this week if the offer from Arsenal finally lands.”
Part of the reason why Tielemans is attracting so much attention this summer is because he’s recently entered the final year of his contract
