New Arsenal signing Fabio Vieira could be set for an early disappointment at the club with his favoured shirt number already taken.
Porto confirmed the deal to sell midfielder Fabio Vieira to Arsenal for £34million on Friday making the 22-year-old Portuguese Arsenal’s third summer arrival, after goalkeeper Matt Turner and Brazilian forward Marquinhos. But, having worn the number 50 shirt throughout his career to date, Vieira arrives at the Emirates with his preferred choice of shirt number already claimed by one of his new teammates.
It comes with Vieira's arrival signalling a warning to Emile Smith Rowe after he failed to achieve the targets set by Mikel Arteta last season. And Arsenal's opening bid for Manchester City's Gabriel Jesus has been rejected.
