Arsenal have 'made enquiries' over £50m Premier League star at the Emirates

Arsenal have enquired about signing Wolves star Pedro Neto, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Gunners made the perfect start to the campaign when they kicked off the new Premier League season with a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace, but Mikel Arteta still wants to add to his five new signings before 1 September.

A Gabriel Martinelli strike, and a late Marc Guehi own goal ensured three points on the opening day for the north London outfit, although Arteta admitted that he’s still hoping to strengthen his squad.

He said: “We are going to try and bring in more players. There are a few things that we have tried but for now it’s time to work with the players we have.”

One of the positions that Arteta is targeting is out wide, with Arsenal previously missing out on signing Raphinha, while they’re also keen on signing PSV ace Cody Gakpo.

Another that could be of interest is 22-year-old Neto, who was linked with a £50m move to Manchester United last year, and might be available, with Wolves on the verge of making Valencia forward Goncalo Guedes their second summer addition.

According to Football.London, Arsenal have a long-term interest in Neto, and Jones expects their pursuit of the Portugal international to increase in the coming days.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “If they decide to stay in the Premier League, I think Pedro Neto could be one to look out for.

“There have been some enquiries made along that path and I think that’s one that might get talked about a little bit more in the next week or so.”

Despite missing almost the whole of last season with an ACL injury sustained in the previous campaign, Neto is still one of the top young talents in the Premier League.
