Arsenal have been 'working on' signing £50m star at the Emirates

Arsenal have probably been working on bringing in Pedro Neto for the last three to four weeks, says Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

It recently emerged that the Wolves winger is a target for the north London club, but Taylor thinks his name has been on their radar for a while.

The Athletic recently reported that Arsenal are in talks to sign Neto before the transfer window closes.

Since then, however, the Evening Standard has claimed that the Gunners fear they will be priced out of a move for the 22-year-old, so a deal looks far from certain.

According to the newspaper, Wolves could demand up to £50m from Arsenal, who have already spent a lot of money this summer.

The Premier League outfit have splashed out on the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, the former arriving at the Emirates in a £45m deal, and are currently thought to be on UEFA’s watchlist of teams who may be in danger of breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

Taylor reckons Arsenal have been working on signing Neto for the last few weeks.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Express journalist said: “I do get the sense that Neto’s been one that they’ve been sort of working on for three to four weeks, really. But the [Morgan] Gibbs-White situation really complicated things.”

At this stage of the transfer window, a £50m offer may not even be enough to convince Wolves to sell Neto to Arsenal.

With the market closing next week, how are the Midlands club going to replace an attacker of Neto’s quality? Looking at their team, he is easily one of their best players.

Back in the 2020/21 season, the Portugal international was the highest-rated star in Wolves’ squad on WhoScored, recording a score of 7.11.
