Arsenal have 'definite interest' in 'special' £50k-a-week star at Emirates

Arsenal ‘definitely’ have an ‘interest’ in Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The 22-year-old has emerged as a top target for manager Mikel Arteta late on in the transfer window as he looks to improve his options out wide before the September 1 deadline.

David Ornstein of The Athletic recently reported that Arsenal are attempting to offload Nicolas Pepe to Ligue outfit Nice and are hopeful that they will be able to bring in a replacement.

It’s claimed that Neto is at the top of Areta’s wish list and that talks have been taking place for ‘more than a month’ over a potential deal for the attacker.

Ornstein also states that central to the negotiations is the intermediary Jorge Mendes, who represents Neto and has close ties to Wolves, although the Midlands outfit do not want to sell their prized asset.

And The Sun’s Daniel Cutts has provided an update on the Portugal international’s situation, disclosing that Arsenal only want to pay £35 million for his signature.

Yet Wolves are believed to value Neto at closer to £50m, and as he still has five years left to run on his current £50,000-per-week contract, the Gunners may have to stump up the full amount.

Sheth has confirmed to GiveMeSport that Wolves have ‘no intention of selling’ Neto in the current transfer window, although admits that ‘money talks’ and Arsenal could tempt them to later their stance.
