Arsenal: Arteta now facing significant test at the Emirates

Arsenal‘s biggest test will be how they respond to their defeat at Manchester United, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Gunners saw their 100 per cent start to the season ended at Old Trafford and Jones has raised question marks as to how Mikel Arteta’s side will react to their first defeat.

Despite sitting six points above United, Arsenal have a poor record at the Theatre of Dreams, having won there just four times in the Premier era area and only once since 2006.

But they showed little signs of nerves early on and were unfortunate not to be ahead when Gabriel Martinelli’s early strike was ruled out by VAR after Martin Odegaard was adjudged to have fouled Christian Eriksen in the build-up.

United took advantage of their reprieve when Antony slotted home on his debut, although Bukayo Saka’s first of the season restored parity.

And with Arsenal in the driving seat, it looked like there would only be one winner, but the Red Devils had other ideas and ran out 3-1 winners thanks to two Marcus Rashford goals in the space of nine minutes.

It was the Gunners’ first dropped points this term, although Manchester City’s draw at Aston Villa 24 hours earlier means Arteta’s men still sit top of the table.

Jones reckons that Arsenal’s next couple of games will be the perfect way to discover whether they’ve progressed under Arteta.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Once they find it, they tend to stay in it for a while, but once they lose their grip on a winning streak, it goes away. So, we’re about to find out whether this team has genuinely grown from last season.”
