Napoli vs Liverpool: Joe Gomez has first half shocker
Liverpool were absolutely blown away by Napoli in the first half of their 2022/23 Champions League group stage opener.
The Reds arrived in Naples full of optimism after their run in the competition last season, but that disappeared after just five minutes of play.
A stupid handball from James Milner gifted Napoli a penalty and Piotr Zielinski duly converted the spot kick to put the hosts 1-0 up at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Napoli had the chance to go 2-0 ahead soon after, but Victor Osimhen saw his effort from 12 yards saved by Alisson Becker after he was upended in the box by Virgil van Dijk.
The Italian outfit eventually made it two through a brilliant goal by former Fulham midfielder André-Frank Zambo Anguissa and Giovanni Simeone then came off the bench to make it three shortly before the half-time interval.
André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, that is superb!
