Aris Limassol must tame Rangers 'horses' as boss cracks the whip over social media trolling
Aris Limassol gaffer Aleksey Shpilevsky reckons his players must find a way to hold Rangers’ “horses” if they’re to saddle up for another shock win at Ibrox.
Shpilevsky’s team heaped fresh misery on the Light Blues last month when they pulled off a stunning 2-1 triumph just days after Michael Beale had been binned as boss. Steven Davis was in caretaker command that night but it’s a vastly different picture at Ibrox now, with Rangers eight games unbeaten under new manager Philippe Clement.
And Shpilevsky has warned Limassol they’ll have to keep a tight rein on a Gers side that has made vast improvements since their last meeting. "Of course, it is another team,” he said. “It is the same players, but a different team. The new coach brings the confidence back, the guys are running around like horses. The speed is there, they play very vertical. They have good experience and tomorrow they will play at home with their fans on their backs.
"They lost against us, a smaller side, so there will be big motivation for them to put that right tomorrow night. But our guys know what is expected of them, it is important not to be afraid. It is important that we don’t make the same mistakes we made in the last game away to Real Betis.”
There was less than 4,500 fans at the Alphamega Stadium to see goals from Alex Moucketou-Moussounda and Shavy Babicka seal the biggest win in Limassol’s 93-year history. But Shpilevsky knows facing Gers at a packed-out Ibrox will be a entirely different prospect for his Mediterranean minnows.
The 35-year-old Belarussian boss said: “It is a pleasure to be here. I will only be on the side, but I am looking forward to enjoying the atmosphere. We came here not to be just a part of the game. We want to
