Antony supported by five Manchester United players after 21-word Real Betis update

Manchester United loanee Antony made a fine start to life at Real Betis after winning Player of the Match during their 2-2 draw against Athletic Club on Sunday.

The Brazilian, who joined the La Liga club on loan from United last weekend, was thrown straight into the starting XI by Manuel Pellegrini for his debut. And the 24-year-old was involved in the action almost instantly after having a helping hand in Betis' opener.

In the 15th minute, Antony's left-footed shot was palmed out, only for ex-Real Madrid midfielder to come crashing in and slot home the rebound. He continued to probe and have an impact, looking bright on the right-hand side and having some neat touches in the final third.

Antony was substituted in the 72nd minute having impressed and received a standing ovation from the Betis fans. During the game, he completed 83 per cent of his 24 attempted passes and produced two key passes. After the match, Antony was awarded the La Liga MVP (Most Valuable Player) for his performance.

It was a positive start to his time at Betis for Antony as he tries to get his career back on track and he expressed his delight having made his debut. In an update posted to his Instagram account, he said: "Important debut!

"Happy to be with my teammates on the pitch and to be able to play for this fan base!" alongside a folding hands emoji while tagging his new club.

Five of his United teammates reacted to Antony's post. Leny Yoro, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Alejandro Garnacho appeared to support the Brazil international and liked it. Meanwhile, Matheus Cunha, who has been linked with a move to United, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, were among the others to drop a like Antony's way.
