Ange Postecoglou's next Celtic step as Aussie ally sees Champions League path trumping Premier League noise

Ange Postecoglou has been tipped to improve Celtic's European record next season after securing back-to-back titles since arriving in Scotland.

The Parkhead club qualified for the Champions League group stage this season, however in games against Real Madrid, RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk they failed to pick up a single win. It meant they finished bottom of Group F with two points after securing two draws against the Ukrainians. Celtic, therefore, failed to qualify for the Europa League next stage but fellow Australian and ex-Manchester United keeper Mark Bosnich believes the Hoops boss will want to go further.

Celtic are now on course for a Treble after securing the league against Hearts on Sunday afternoon. They will now go into the Scottish Cup on June 3 against Inverness Caley Thistle, with the Viaplay Cup already in the bag, knowing that a win would secure another historic season for the Parkhead club.

Speaking after Celtic clinched the title at Tynecastle, Bosnich told Sky Sports: "I’m so happy for him. When I first came back to Australia in 2008, I spent around three years right new to him on television and got to know him really, really well. I watched his meteoric rise through the league here in Australia, to the Australian national team, then he went on to Japan with Yokohama F Marinos and then on to Celtic.

"I can understand when he first arrived at Celtic, there were a lot of people scratching their heads wondering why, people saying this and that, but for those who knew him, we realised – and said it in a humble way – that given time, he would get things right.
