Ange Postecoglou names Celtic 'greatest reward' as he talks up fan feedback ahead of trophies
Ange Postecoglou doesn't need a lift anywhere. Not when he's being driven every single day by those who love and follow Celtic.
And the Parkhead manager says that, when it comes to any barometer of his work at the club, he only takes his signals and signs from his team’s supporters. Postecoglou’s outstanding efforts since moving to Glasgow 19 months ago have been noticed far outside the boundaries of the city.
The Aussie is steering a relentless juggernaut which is crashing through domestic opposition. With English clubs such as Leeds regularly being linked, it has led to wise-cracks from individuals such as Livingston manager David Martindale and former Rangers boss Ally McCoist who joked about putting his CV into Elland Road and driving him to Yorkshire. In keeping with the humorous nature of the comments, Postecoglou quipped: “I wouldn’t struggle for a lift mate! I’ve got plenty of people who’d take me or I could drive myself.”
But the boss was deadly serious as he spoke about those whom he really wants to impress. Who really drives him. The Celtic fans who shell out their hard-earned cash. Impressing them is as important as winning silverware as he said: “My measure are the people who love this football club. That’s the only feedback I’m looking for.
“Of course trophies are what this football club is about and that’s my role. To bring success. But the biggest encouragement or rewards we can get is people wanting to come and watch their football club.
“I don’t take that for granted. No one in the club does. Even cup games, it’s a choice sometimes whether they come or not, but they are coming in record numbers. For me that’s the most important thing. Ultimately that’s our biggest measure.
“They’ll tell me how I’m going
