Ange feels Celtic success is 'dismissed' as Rod Stewart wine request shows celeb love is fleeting

Ange Postecoglou reckons he's used to being dismissed, and that even his undeniable success at Celtic gets overlooked.

The bullish Australian has charged has way in to being the talk of the town at Tottenham after an almost-unblemished start to life in the English Premier League turned heads with the 58-year-old scooping three consecutive manager of the month awards. Postecoglou left the dizzying heights of a Treble-winning Celtic side for London in the summer and has been complimentary of his time in Glasgow since joining the Lilywhites.

But in a conversation with Record Sport columnist Chris Sutton, the former Socceroos coach admitted he's found others to dismiss his trophy glut at Parkhead when comparing to the transition to England's top flight with Tottenham. Postecoglou believes he can break down stereotypes in North London, but that his brushes with the elite are only so 'fleeting' shown by Hoops mega-fan Rod Stewart wanting a gift he bestowed to him back.

He told the Mail Online: "I never used it as a drive to prove people wrong but I did get frustrated. Because I knew, with the all the work I had done and the experience I had, that I deserved an opportunity and really the one reason I wasn't getting one was because I was Australian.

"People were dismissive about my success. I didn't think it was fair because whatever competition you win, it's still a competition right? You still gotta be the first team. Even Celtic gets dismissed a bit.

"So I enjoy the fact I am here because hopefully it breaks some stereotypes and lets people open their minds. I am not here because of my playing career, my profile or my connections. I am here because of my work.
